The permanent exhibitions displays artworks from medieval times up to twentieth century, there are also some collections of pre-Christian times. The Museum is distinguished for its Georgian goldsmith pieces dated back to the VIII-XIX Centuries. Also unique are the exhibits of cut-enamel, jewelry and art textiles from VIII-XV cc. The funds of Georgian art are kept samples of medieval architecture fragments, wall painting, mosaic, sculpture, icons, woodcuts. The museum stores the works of famous Georgian artists Niko Pirosmanishvili (146 items), Gigo Gabashvili, Iakob Nikoladze, Lado Gudiashvili, Elene Akvlediani, David Kakabadze and others. The museum also hosts collections of XVIII-XIX c.c. Russian, Western Europe and Oriental (parently Persian) artworks. | State Silk museum The State Silk Museum is one of the oldest museums in Georgia as well as one of the oldest silk museums in the world. Originally it was a part of the sericulture station, founded in Tbilisi in 1887. Nikolay Shavrov, member of the Moscow Agricultural Imperial Society, led the centre. Nowadays the collections of the museum includes all kinds of exhibits connected with the silk production: collection of mulberry and its products; collections of silkworms, butterflies, cocoons (5.000 breeds and variations); collection of natural and synthetic dyes with samples; collections of models for domestic and industrial silk production; collections of silk products etc.; photo archive; especially interesting is that the museum collections represent all countries with traditions of silk production. Most of the collections of the museum are collected by N. Shavrov and donated by European, Russian and Caucasian colleagues. | Kutaisi museums | Niko Berdzenishvili Kutaisi State History Museum The museum was established in 1921, it houses more then 150 thousand items of cultural heritage of the country (from IX-VII c.c. B.C. up to late medieval times). Among them are: Bronze Age and Antiquity period monuments - archaeological discoveries from western Georgia, rare samples Georgian, Roman, Byzantine and Oriental history, everyday life and culture rare objects, collection of oldest epigraphic monuments and Georgian manuscripts - rare charters, ethnographic materials, significant samples of items (goldsmith works, metalwork, ceramics, leather, glassworks, textiles, woodcuts). Permanent exhibitions are displayed in 10 spaces on two floors. In 2005 had finished reconstruction of the "Gold Treasury" hall, and at the moment the permanent display there is done according the modern standards. In 2006 have started rehabilitation of the museum - a full reconstruction of the facilities according the international standard. | Batumi Archaeological Museum The Batumi Archaeological Museum was created in 1994. It houses finds of various periods from within Adjara. Its principal attraction is the material from Pichvnari excavated since 1998 by the joint archaeological expedition of the Batumi Archaeological Museum and the Ashmolean Museum of the University of Oxford. The academic study and publication of the finds is proceeding apace, thanks to the existence of a conservation laboratory, a photographic studio and archive, and a rich specialized library.
