In 1850, the first Mineral Water Park was set up there, and in 1854 the construction of the first bottling plant began. The indisputable advantages of the resort and the water itself were also appreciated by the Russian emperor, who, by order of 1892-1895, built a Moorish-style villa in the Likani (on the territory of Borjomi), the Romanov Palace, which will be transformed into a museum after renovation.
