Kakhetian tour #2 Day 1: Tbilisi – Telavi – Tsinandali – Gremi – Napareuli – Tbilisi In the morning departure to Kakheti trough Gomborskyi passage. Excursion in Telavi – the main city and administrative center of Kakheti. The most famous sight of the city is the museum-castle of King Irakli II (XVIIIv.), who signed a treaty with George Russian empire. Visit the House Museum, Al. Chavchavadze in Tsinandali. This was the place where Prince Chavchavadze built the estate and often invited foreign guests. Here you will learn about the romantic love story of the Russian diplomat Alexander Griboyedov and beauty Georgian Princess Chavchavadze (entrance fees are not included). Next trip to the royal castle Gremi (XVI c.). The complex is surrounded by a wall with towers and loopholes. The remains of a secret underground passage leading to the river. There is also a complex of the Church of the Archangels (XVI-XVII c.). Moving to Napareuli and visit the Museum of Wine founded by the twins brothers. Tasting of Georgian wines made way for Kakhetian old traditions. Wines are stored in Marani - clay jugs, buried in the ground. Dinner. Return to Tbilisi.
