Tbilisi - Bodbe - Sighnaghi - Telavi - Ananuri - Mtskheta - Tbilisi - Gori - Borjomi - Vardzia - Akhaltsikhe - Mestia - Ushguli - Batumi - Kutaisi - Tbilisi, 12 days, 11 nights
Day 1: Tbilisi
Arrival to Tbilisi. Meeting with the representatives of the agency. Hotel accommodation. The capital of Georgia is unique. It is located on the several mountain hills, on which "creep" the old blocks. Tbilisi - is a beautiful river Kura with its picturesque rocky shores, that flows across the whole city. Tbilisi is one of the rare places in the world, where can peacefully exist in the Old Town orthodox church, catholic cathedral, synagogue and mosque. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 2: Tbilisi
Breakfast. General sightseeing tour in Tbilisi. Visit of Metekhi Church ( V c.), Synaxis of Saint Trinity of the temple complex of Tsminda Sameba - the main Cathedral of Georgian Orthodox Church. Walking tour in the city. "Old Town" - is the historic center of Tbilisi, that is located at the root of Mtatsminda (Holy Mount) mountain. Almost all of the buildings of the Old Town are historical and cultural sites, this part of the city is round - the - clock full of life, here walk alone or in groups tourists, meet lovers near the Clock Tower. Using the newest lift we get to Narikala fortress ( IV c.), during the lifting we can observe the city from the bird's eye view. In the Old Town we will visit Sioni Cathedral (VI-VII c.), Anchiskhati Basilica of St Mary, the oldest surviving church. walk at the Shota Rustaveli avenue. Free time. Dinner. Overnight in the hotel in Tbilisi.
Day 3: Tbilisi - Bodbe - Sighnaghi - Telavi
Breakfast. Arrival to the "town of everlasting love" Sighnaghi. On the way, visit the monastery complex of St. George and the grave of St. Nino in the Bodbe village. Excursion in the "town of everlasting love" Sighnaghi, that is placed at the top of the ridge, overlooking Alazani valley. Visit of Nekresi - the oldest temple in Georgia of the IV century. Overlook of the Gremi royal fortress (XVI c.). The complex is surrounded by the wall with towers and embrasures. The remains of the secret underground passage, that leads to the river, survived. Arrival to Telavi. Excursion in Telavi - main city and administrative center of Kakhetia, museum - fortress of tsar Erekle II (XVIII c.), that signed Treaty of Georgievsk with the Russian Empire. Then, visit of Alaverdi Cathedral (XI c.), the second highest building (more than 50 m), and also monastery cellar. Excurison in the ancient Ikalto Academy (X-XII c.), where studied the great Georgian poet and philosopher Shota Rustaveli, the author of the worldknown poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin". Return to Tbilisi. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 4: Tbilisi - Ananuri - Mtskheta - Tbilisi
Breakfast. In the morning departure from Tbilisi on the famous Georgian Military Highway to the fortress Anannuri. Overlook of the picturesque Ananuri fortress (XVI c.), located above Aragvi river, and also the amazing beauty of Zhinvali reservoir.
Excursion in the ancient capital of Georgia Mtskheta - the town-museum, included to the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Visit of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (1010-1029), at the bottom of which is buried one of the major Christian relics Lords chiton, as well as the burial place of many of the Georgian kings. Here is also the part of life-giving pillar. Visit of Samtavro monastery, where year round grow, flower and fruit blackberry bush, near of which in the IV century lived and preached St. Nino- enlightener, the first preacher of Christianity in Georgia. Woderworking icon of Iberian Mother of God, woderworking icon of St. Nino, grave of St. Tsar Merian and Tsarina Nani, hallows of St. Abibos Nekresky, St. Shio Mhvimskoho are placed inside. Visit of the ancient temple - monastery Jvari (VI c.). Return to Tbilisi. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 5: Tbilisi - Gori - Borjomi - Vardzia - Akhaltsikhe
Breakfast. Arrival to Gori and visit of Stalin museum. Museum consists of three blocks - museum, house and railway carriage. Excursion to the ancient Goristsikhe fortress, placed on the hill in the city center. On the way to Vardzia, we will stop on Borjomi. Trying the world-famous Borjomi mineral water from the spring. Visit of Vardzia cave monastery complex (XII- XIII c.) - 19 stepped rock town. For 900 m along the left bank of Kura river, in the plumb wall of the mountain, around 600 buildings are cut out - churches, chapels, parrocks, pantries, baths, libraries. There preserved secret passages, remains of plumbing, and irrigation system. Vardzia- is the site of the era of Golden Age. More than thousands of monks lived there, and when being attacked, to 20 thousand of people could shelter there. Hotel accommodation in Akhaltsikhe. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 6: Akhalthykhe - Mestia
Breakfast. Arrival to recently reconstructed Akhaltsikhe fortress, the motherland of Charles Aznavur, the ancient center of Catholicism in Georgia. In the complex, together with Orthodox Church of St. Marina, are placed mosque, catholic church and monastery of Benedictine Sisters, synagogue and Armenian church. Arrival to Mestia - the legendary capital of the mountainous Svaneti. Hotel accommodation. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 7: Mestia
Breakfast. Excursion in Mestia, that is included to the number of World Heritage sites by UNESCO.Visit of the historic- ethnographical museum, medieval church and fortification districts of Mestia. Free time. The possibility of horseback riding, biking and jeep riding in the surrounding region with a local guide. Dinner. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 8: Mestia - Ushguli
Breakfast. Jeep excursion in Ushguli - Svanetian village located at an altitude of 2200m above sea level, the most high-mountain permanent settlement in Europe, included to the World Heritage sites List of UNESCO. Visit of Lamaria church (2300 m above sea level), Ushguli museum of icons, Towers of Queen Tamara, Ushguli Ethnographic Museum.
Return to Mestia. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 9: Mestia - Batumi
Breakfast. Move to Batumi. Hotel accommodation. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 10: Batumi
Breakfast. Excursion in the city. Batumi - is a "Georgian Singapore", the most famous Black Sea resort of Georgia, with the population of 120 000 people. A visiting card of Batumi is a popular place of residents and visitors of the city, - it is Batumi Piazza, built in 2009. In 2010, a new, 7 meters high, moving sculpture of Love became the adornment of the city. The statue is a figure of a woman and a man. They seek to each other, in 8-10 minutes they move in a original and beautiful way towards each other and eventually merge as one. Excursion in Batumi: animated fountains (laser show), worldknown dolphinarium, Argonauts square with Medea statue. Optional excursion to Gonio Apsar fortress - the oldest fortress in Georgia, on the board with Turkey. The fortress was built in I-II century AD, and served as citadel of Roman at first, and then of the Byzantine Empire. Total length of fortress is 900 m, walls height - 5 m, the height of each of the eighteen towers is 7 m.Walk along the boulevard. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 11: Batumi - Kutaisi - Tbilisi
Breakfast. Arrival to Kutaisi. Excursion in the ancient city Kutaisi, that is more than 3 thousand years old. Visit of Gelati monastery and academy, established by the great Georgian tsar David IV the Builder, that is included to UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Overlook of the Bagrati Cathedral and "monastery of accomplishment of desires" Motsameta. Excursion to the Prometheus castor cave, where, according to the legend, Prometheus gave the fire to people, and because of that he was enchained to the rock. Return to Tbilisi. Closing dinner with national dances and songs.
Day 12: Tbilisi
Breakfast. Free time. Souvenirs buying. Transfer to the airport and return home.
