Wine tour from Tbilisi
Day 1: Tbilisi — Sighnaghi – Kvareli — Ilya lake – Nekressi – Gremi – Napareuli - Tbilisi
Departure to Sighnaghi. Excursion in the "town of everlasting love" Sighnaghi. Walk along the ancient town Sighnaghi, that is placed at the top of the ridge, overlooking Alazani valley. It was currently restored to its original from. Visiting Winery "Kindzmarauli Marani" in Kvareli - a modern factory with the latest European equipment and ancient secrets of Georgian wine in the territory of which were planted more than 400 varieties of grapes grown in Georgia. Here you can buy wine from the producer, winner of many international exhibitions.
Optional visit Kvareli Winemaking Khareba - wine depository in tunnels, the longest of 7.7 km with a wine collection of vintage wines. Wine tasting (for additional payment).
Lunch over the Illya lake.
Continuation of excursion: Nekresi – the oldest temple of Georgia IV century. Visit the royal castle Gremi (XVI c.). The complex is surrounded by a wall with towers and loopholes. The remains of a secret underground passage leading to the river. There is also a complex of the Church of the Archangels (XVI-XVII century). Next, excursion in Telavi – the main city and administrative center of Kakheti. The most famous sight of the city is the museum-castle of King Irakli II (XVIIIv.), who signed a treaty with George Russian empire. Moving to Napareuli. Visit the Wine museum. Tasting of Georgian wines made way for Kakhetian old traditions. Wines are stored in Marana, clay jugs, burried in the ground.
Return to Tbilisi trought Gomborskyi pass.
