Svaneti and Kakheti – snow and sun – two sides of one Georgia
Tbilisi – Kutaisi — Zugdidi — Mestia— Chalaadi glacier – ski resort Khatsvali Ushguli — Nokalakevi – Martvili canyon – Martvili cathedral – Gomborsky pass – Telavi – Alaverdi – Tsinandali – Gremi – Manavi - Sighnaghi – Tbilisi (8 days, 7 nights)
Day 1: Tbilisi
Arrival to Tbilisi. Meeting with the representatives of the agency. Hotel accommodation. Overnight.
Day 2: Tbilisi – Kutaisi
Breakfast. Departure to Kutaisi. Excursion in the ancient city Kutaisi, that is more than 3 thousand years old. Visit of Gelati monastery and academy, established by the great Georgian tsar David IV the Builder, that is included to UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Overlook of the Bagrati Cathedral and "monastery of accomplishment of desires" Metsameta. Excursion to the Prometheus castor cave, where, according to the legend, Prometheus gave the fire to people, and because of that he was enchained to the rock. Hotel accommodation. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 3: Kutaisi — Zugdidi — Mestia
Breakfast. Departure to Zugdidi. The treasure of Zugdidi is graceful patrimonial palace of Dadiani princes, with great park. At the present time, it is a museum with uncommon historical collection, icluding the death mask of Napoleon Bonaparte. The oldest aristocratic family of Dadiani princes is known for its relations with Napoleon Bonaparte. In Vlakherna church, in Zugdidi, is kept one of the most precious Christian relics - Cincture of the Virgin Mary — christian relic, that belonged to Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ. On the way to Mestia, we can enjoy the fantastic views of four waterfalls and three mountain peaks of the Caucasus — Ushba, Mazer, Shkhelda. Hotel accommodation in Mestia. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 4: Mestia — Chalaadi glacier – ski resort Khatsvali – Mestia
B reakfast. Jeep tour to Chalaadi glacier. Walking tour (3 hour) through the forest path to the glacier, to source of the river Chalaadi (easy trail). Next stop Khatsvali. The cable railway heading to the top of the mountain, offering amazing views of the Caucasian mountains. Return to Mestia. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 5: Mestia — Ushguli – Mestia
B reakfast. Jeep tour to Ushguli. Excursion in Ushguli - Svanetian village located at an altitude of 2200m above sea level, the most high-mountain permanent settlement in Europe, included to the World Heritage sites List of UNESCO. Visit of Lamari church (2300 m above sea level), Ushguli museum of icons, Towers of Queen Tamara, Ushguli Ethnographic Museum. On the way back, visiting the Church of St. Kvirike. The mountain path leading to the church of medium difficulty, but offering stunning views of the Caucasus Mountains. Return to Mestia. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 6: Mestia — Nokalakevi – Martvili canyon – Martvili cathedral – Tbilisi
B reakfast. Visit to the ancient city Nokalakevi, which dates from the III century BC. Visit Martvili canyons. Boat trips to the waterfalls. Visiting Martvili Cathedral, overlooking the entire Kolkhide valley. Return to Tbilisi. Hotel accommodation. Overnight.
Day 7: Tbilisi – Gomborsky pass – Telavi – Alaverdi – Tsinandali – Gremi – Manavi - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi
B reakfast. Departure to Telavi through Gomborsky pass. Visiting the Alaverdi Cathedral (XI c.), The second highest building (50 meters). Tour of the Telavi - the main city and administrative center of Kakheti, museum-castle of King Irakli II (XVIIIv.), who signed a treaty with George Russian empire.
Then excursion to the House Museum, Al. Chavchavadze (1786-1 846) in Tsinandali. It was a place where Prince Chavchavadze often invited foreign guests. There was unfolding love story of a Russian diplomat Al. Griboyedov and Georgian princess Nino Chavchavadze. The architectural ensemble of Gremi in the form in which it survives today, was built in the XVI century during the reign of Levan of Kakheti. He announced Gremi the capital of Kakheti kingdom and by order of the king was built a palace and a church on a small hill. Arrival to the " town of everlasting love" Sighnaghi. Then, passing through, acquaintance with the history of the Manavi Fortress (XI century) and the Manavi Temple (XVIII century). The church was built in 1794 by the abbot of the monastery of John the Baptist from the monastery David Gareji - Ephraim. In the 17th century here was located the royal vineyards and the estate of Heraclius II. Stop in the pearl of Kakheti - a private estate "Chateau Fort de Manavi". In the program of the visit: tasting of wines and chacha, produced according to traditional old Georgian technology directly in the marani "Chateau Fort de Manavi" from grapes grown in the estate's own vineyards. The highlight of the tasting will be "Manavi Green" - a wine made from a special grape variety that grows only in the area of the village of Manavi in Georgia. In the evening there is an opportunity to have master class and dinner - pastries in the tone of Georgian bread - dedas puri and cooking churchkhela (for extra charge). The menu includes only Georgian cuisine from ECO products grown on the "Chateau Fort de Manavi" farm. Excursion in the "town of everlasting love" Sighnaghi, that is placed at the top of the ridge, overlooking Alazani valley. Return to Tbilisi. Overnight.
Day 8: Tbilisi
Breakfast. Depending on the departure time, spare time. Buying souvenirs. Transfer to the airport.
